ba-bum ba-bum ba-bum...

i heard the little heartbeat for the first time on wednesday! the nurse was not sure that we'd be able to, but there it was, loud and clear. most babies should have a beat of 110-160 per minute, and the bean's was 160. jim and i are guessing the bean will have my worry genes and his nervousness. the nurse said everything looks great. i feel really tired but still really good. i am just excited to get this trimester over with so i am not as tired anymore! i've gained another pound since the first weigh-in, for a total of a whopping 2 pounds in the first 11 weeks. not too shabby. of course i did wear a light sundress and took off my flip flops before i got on the scale, but who's counting? :)

so right about now this is what the bean looks like:

still very freaky, yes, but pretty cool. all of its main developing has taken place so it is now just focused on growing. and grow, it will. fast. right now it is over an inch and a half in length but it will grow super fast over the next few months.

everything seems to be good here, just trying to enjoy the summer and getting ready for our big trip to spain. i can't believe we are leaving in a week and will be gone for two weeks! it will be so wonderful and super romantic, as long as this crazy european heat wave dies down a little before then!
