the last few weeks

i can't believe how long it's been since i posted something. so much has happened since easter. here's a quick list (since i love lists) of what is going on with us. more details on each later.

1. THE BEAN: soren is 10 weeks on thursday. he weighs 12 lbs and is large and in charge. went to the dr., who said that he should be turning over any day now, and that his beautiful blue eyes will likely stay that way! looks like he got his grandparents' recessive genes. fingers crossed the big blues will stick around. coos all day long and i feel like he'll be talking any moment. had his first eye infection last week, so we went back to the dr., but now he is just fine. his good friend came out from d.c. to visit him and baby charlotte two weeks ago. we went to the desert botanical gardnens. unfortunately he slept the entire time, so i am not sure if he is as mesmerized by the desert as i am. check him out:

2. JOBBY-JOB: i get to work part time! found out yesterday. i am SO excited. looks like my mom will care for little soren MWF. perfect.

3. SHELTER: found out on friday that our landlord is selling our house on june 1. ummm what? did they forget that we have an infant? guess so. so i've spent the last five days looking at houses online. we need to buy a house stat!

4. HUBBY: jim is away at the national advocacy center taking a trial ad class for the next two weeks. now i know what it is like to be a single mom. it sucks.

5. ME: went to the dr. for my shoulder yesterday. no surgery at this point, just more physical therapy. i spend so much time at therapy you'd think i work there. i kind of wish i did. the longer i am there, the more i wish i would have known about this as a career. if it wasn't so much work to go back to school, i might try it. aside from the fact that you get to know every little detail of the human body, physical therapists really have the ability to help people who need it. i can't tell you how many people i've seen progress over the last month. one woman couldn't even wiggle her fingers but now she is making a fist! it is amazing how small movements and maybe just a human touch can help someone. i am in awe of them the whole time. things are getting a little better with my shoulder, it is just taking a lot longer than i thought it would. it is hard to lift such a chubby baby all day long! no wonder i screwed up my shoulder.

6. PHX: i still can't believe what a small world it is here in phx. i keep running into people i know. when i was at the dr. i ran into someone i knew in elementary school and high school - let's just call him Mr. R. he was the star of camelback's basketball team, played baseball, was really bright, and very popular. the kind of person that has probably led a fairly charmed life. also happened to be my boyfriend in 6th grade (don't know how a dork like me scored that one). so what is he up to now? let's just say he isn't how i imagined he would be at 31. Mr. R now deals cards at the casino, is single, and is seriously bald. awesome. and this dork? married to a gorgeous, motivated, caring husband, with a beautiful baby, and a good career. looks like Mr. R dumping me that summer of 1987 was the best thing to happen to me.

so things have been a little hectic, to say the least. i've also been trying to get the bean on some sort of schedule before i go back to work on may 7. he is, how do you say, resistant? stubborn? unwilling? uncooperative? but i know deep down that putting a baby on a schedule is probably the hardest thing you can possibly do, especially when you don't have a schedule of your own. oh, and the sleeping through the night? forget it. not happened since i blogged about it. i knew it. this bean sure does keep me on my toes.
