month one

i can't believe little soren is one month old today. when i think back to being in the hospital with him, i realize how time has flown by. i guess i'd better get used to it, because all everyone says to me is how quickly they grow up.

so what has happened over the last month? first and most importantly, soren has gained a ton of weight - he is now almost 10 lbs. he has chubby cheeks and some serious thunderthighs, which is quite a change from the little bean we brought home. he is awake more throughout the day (and night, which is not so good when jim and i are trying to get some rest) and actually gets a little bit of play time in. he really likes to be on his back and kick the little dangling things from his activity gym. he has the loudest, most explosive poops i have ever heard, and he passes gas like there's no tomorrow. he still loves to be held, and will fall asleep within minutes if you place him on your chest. he makes these really strange nosies while he is trying to sleep - loud, guttural sounds that sound like some creature from another planet. i think he has smiled twice, or at least that is what i am telling myself. he has had his first couple of play dates with his girlfriend-to-be charlotte (my friend cc's daughter), and has been visited by so many family and friends who want to get to know him. he is still the most beautiful thing i have ever seen, and i am even more in love with him than i was that first day.
