babies, books, and beans

my girlfriends from law school, plus my sis and sis-in-law, and my oldest college friend all got their pretty heads together and threw the bean a baby shower on saturday night. we had such a nice time. it was wonderful to be surrounded by so many loving friends and family, all celebrating the upcoming birth of the little bean. we had some of our favorite food: mexican from carolina's, and the adorable cake you see above! each guest brought their favorite children's book and wrote a personal message to the bean on a bookmark - such a great idea! it really was a walk down memory lane to see all of the books i had read as a child. the messages were so touching, i could just imagine each person reading that book to him once he's here. we hung out, chatted, i annihilated a pinata shaped as a baby block, and relaxed. it was a beautiful (but freezing cold!) evening.

i am always amazed at how lucky jim and i are. we are truly blessed. we have supportive, kind families who love us dearly. we have so many good friends, both here in az and all over the country, with whom we have shared dreams, celebrations, heartache, travels, milestones, professions, and now families.

thank you to all of our family and friends who made not only saturday night, but continue to make both of our lives so full of laughter and love. we hope we can show the same to the little bean.
