rock you like a hurricane

last night, monsoon season brought the worst arizona storm i have ever seen! 80mph winds, hail, rain... you name it, mother nature brought it. when we woke up this morning, jim went out to survey the damage. i couldn't believe how bad it was, with the tops of trees literally being blown off and our back fence having caved in at the center. until i got to work this morning.

all of the streets by my office were closed, and our office is shut down. there are trees that have literally been uprooted all over town. there's no power. i am assuming everyone went home from work, but i wouldn't know. i am the lucky person who had to come to court today. and lucky me has a wireless card and a laptop so i can still technically do some work. i can't complain, really, since completing a blog post means i am clearly not doing anything of substance. but still! we never get weather days off in phoenix. this is my snow day! and i'm stuck in court, waiting for people to make their ridiculous commute through the debris and closed streets.

labor day is almost here, which means (thank god) that there is relief from the heat somewhere around the corner. i cannot wait for october to hit. we have so many plans for once the weather cools off! i can't wait to spend the weekends outdoors. poor soren won't be saying, "outside? outside? outside? outside?" while we pretend we can't hear/don't understand him like we've been doing lately. i know, i know.
