phoenix, i guess???
i think i can safely say that we are moving to phoenix. jim starts his job there on tuesday and he still hasn't gotten the official word from anyone. can you believe it? the first thing jim was told was he was going to tucson. about two days later, he was told it would be phoenix. since then, we haven't heard anything else. nothing. no one has ever confirmed, denied, nothing.
so since phoenix was his first choice, jim just started making his reservations. he has a furnished apartment at the orpheum lofts downtown, and he will be there on monday. since he is on detail, work will pay for his lodging, food, and rental car (even though he won't need one). crazy! he can walk to work and the place seems awesome! pool, fitness center, valet, etc. he is in touch with the usao and has figured out where to go and what he needs to do for his first day. he is all set.
i'd hate to think of what might happen if he actually got some official word today or tomorrow, either saying that it was tucson or that they are pulling the plug on the whole thing. but with the government, no news is usually good news. it means that something else came along to get them all riled up and they just don't want to spend any more time thinking about it. if the way you left it was the way you want it to stay, it's best not to bring it up again. so i think jim's just going to try to sneak out of here and hope no one ever notices.
phoenix or bust! at least, for jim. i hope to follow very soon.
